The Story Behind Shea-Mergency Daisy Defense Liquid Soap Wash

If you've been with Shea-Mergency for a while, you already know something about me. I'm a nurse first. For over 26 years I've cared for people through some of life's hardest moments. I've sat beside patients who were too embarrassed to ask questions about body odor, moisture, itching, irritation, skin breakdown, and the private issues nobody wants to admit they're struggling with.

Those quiet conversations stayed with me. They became a huge part of the mission behind Shea-Mergency. We didn't create products because skincare was trendy, we created products because people were hurting. From our Shea 10 Skin Conditioner for extremely dry skin, to our Relief Balm, Organic Deodorants, and Ultimate Body Wash, every Shea-Mergency product begins with the same question: "How can we naturally help someone feel comfortable in their own skin again?"

We're not medicine. We don’t claim to diagnose or treat disease. We are simply an organic skincare company built on prayer, research, and God-given ingredients. I truly believe God has blessed my hands and my heart to formulate products that help people when they feel like they've tried everything else.

A Story I've Never Forgotten

Let me tell you why Daisy Defense means so much to me. Years Ago, in my twenties, I was dealing with something that completely shattered my confidence. Every time I used the restroom I noticed and very strong odor and discharge. I immediately scheduled an appointment with my gynecologist.

After asking questions and examining me, he said something I'll never forget. "What do you smell Ms. Johnson?, I don't smell anything." I looked at him in shock. “YOU DON'T SMELL THAT?" I said. He said “No.” The test came back normal. No infection. Nothing Unusual. Yet every day I dealt with a terrible sharp smell. I felt confused, upset and hopeless. To be honest, I felt ashamed, because what is wrong with my body that it could smell so bad?

The Phone Call That Changed Everything

Out of options, I called my sister. It’s important to note that we both learned everything in our aduthood through struggle. Our mother passed away when I was only eight years old (my sister was fourteen). Nobody taught us skincare or feminine hygiene. No one explained why our bodies changed and how to handle those transitions. We learned everything, through trial and error. The Hard Way!

So, when I told my sister what was happening she asked me one question. “Gi, are you still washing with bar soap?". I said, “Yes.” She replied, “You need to switch to liquid soap.” That was it. One conversation. One change. And my life improved dramatically.

When Liquid Soap Felt Like a Luxury

Now here's the part many people don't know. Buying liquid soap wasn't easy. I was a single mother raising six children, by myself. Every dollar had a job. Every penny mattered. Buying something just for me felt selfish, even if I needed it. I actually prayed for God to increase my faith so I could justify adding liquid soap to my grocery budget.

Some people may not understand that, others know exactly what I'm talking about. When you're choosing between your children's needs and your own, you always choose your children.

Eventually I bought it, and it helped. A lot. But I still wasn't where I wanted to be. I tried everything else I could think of: keeping the area dry, changing clothes frequently, shaving, extra showers, powders, panty liners, anything that might help me feel fresh.

The Silent Conversation Women Have

Here's something I've learned over the years… women absolutely talk about intimate odor, just not publicly. Even among close friends most conversations start with, "I don't know what's wrong." instead of... "Here's what helped me."

Nobody wants to tell their friend: "You smell." Nobody wants to embarrass someone they love. So thousands of women feel isolated and silently wonder if they're the only one.

Years later, God blessed me with Shea-Mergency. One of the first products we created was our Ultimate Body Wash, our anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, organic body wash. For me personally, it was the first time I finally felt consistently fresh. That experience planted a seed... What if we could create something designed specifically for intimate skin?

I created Daisy Defense because I never wanted another woman—or man- struggling with odor or moisture in the groin area—to feel as alone as I once did! I wanted something made with thoughtfully selected botanical ingredients that helps cleanse the external intimate area while leaving you feeling clean, comfortable, and confident. No overpowering perfumes and harsh - synthetic toxic ingredients. Not trying to cover yesterday's odor with today's fragrance. Just gentle cleansing inspired by God-given ingredients!

The Moment I'll Never Forget

The first time I used the finished formula, I cried. Real tears. Not because I invented another product, but because I remembered the younger version of myself. The young woman sitting in that doctor's office — The single mother trying to stretch every dollar — The woman praying for answers because she was desparate and ashamed! I cried for every woman who's ever wondered... "Is something wrong with me?" I cried because I knew Daisy Defense would become more than soap.
